Journal #1 - A bedtime routine is IMPORTANT.
Oh hey doll....
My bedtime routine is my ritual to myself. It's something
I stick to as much as I can.
- It's my hour of ME time.
- It's my time to wind down.
- It's easing me into a restful sleep.
Why is this so important to me?
I used to struggle falling to sleep most nights. I tried
everything, including sleeping tablets!
& YES THE WORKED, I become very reliant on them
quickly but desperately wanted to drift
off without them.
It's taken me a year to drift off without the battle in my
head of why I can't sleep. I created a custom built routine
that works for me, and has now become the biggest
reason,1) I Sleep so well 2) I Drift off so quickly.
Sleep is an essential function that allows your body
and mind to recharge, leaving you refreshed and alert
when you wake up. Without enough sleep, the brain
cannot function properly.
Making the easiest of tasks HARD
Without a good sleep, I crave bad foods, I am lazy,
my concentration is non existent, I am a moody b**ch.
Not something that you want to run into put it that way.
So here goes... (Disclaimer this works for me but may not work for you.
Custom to what works best for you).
The 'BEDTIME ROUTINE'
- Put on my blue light glasses helps my eyes slowly
get ready for bed.
- Turn on 'DO NOT DISTRUB MODE' (1 hour before lights out)
I use Downtime on my iPhone, this is set up to lock my phone and automatically set to DNDM between the hours of 9pm and 7am.
- Put on my 'Wind Down' playlist. Taking down the tempo and starting to relax
- Brush Teeth & Floss
- HOT SHOWER (With the wind down playlist + candle) R E L A X
- Skincare - Cleanse, Exfoliate, Serum, Moisturise
- Fresh pair of PJs (TIP - Stick them in the tumble dryer whilst in the shower)
- Lights out - Galaxy Light ON. Diffuser ON.
- Read for 30 mins - Current book 'Think Like a Monk - Jay Shetty'
- ZZZZzzzzzzzz
[SIDE NOTE - I also meditate and do yoga every morning. This also helps loads with a good sleeping pattern.]
